Driveway additions

Forums:

We are planning on adding to the side of our driveway to accommodate having 2 vehicles (trucks) in the driveway and still having room to walk to the front entry of our house. Our plan is to add 1'-11" of concrete to the far side of the driveway to make it in line with the side of the house. We got a permit with the city and approval from the HOA, or so we thought. The letter reads this:

FirstService Residential on behalf of The Falls at Green Meadows Architectural Review Committee has reviewed
your architectural application for garden bricks, a driveway and concrete patio extension at your home. Your
request has been conditionally approved subject to the following:

Driveway Extension:
1. Driveways shall be no more than 1 ft. on either side of the garage at the front of the home.
Driveway width cannot exceed 30 ft. at front building line.
2. Where the driveway intersects the sidewalk, the driveway finish may not continue through the
sidewalk.
3. Must appear as original design.
4. It is the homeowner’s responsibility to contact the City of Katy and obtain the required permits
prior to construction.

So are they saying I can't go beyond 1' past the garage opening or 1' past the side of the house/garage? We were not sure so we emailed them back and Camilla responds back to my wife that its 1' past the garage door opening. We replied back to her that there are multiple houses in the neighborhood past the 1' and asked her to reconsider as 1' does nothing for us. Well that was 3 days ago and no response from her. I also called yesterday and left her a message and still no return call or email.

Does anyone know if there is a rule in the neighborhood covenants in regards to this?

Next Step

It's certainly frustrating that our driveways and garages are barely wide enough for two vehicles - and then you can't open the doors to get out!

You might step up to the Community Manager, then her boss. Here is their info:

They used to have all the documents available online. Now they seem to point you to a login site:

Well after they avoided some

Well after they avoided some calls and emails we finally got them on the phone and got approval.

Wider Driveway

Could you share for the record what they did approve and what you learned in the process? Thanks.
